Seventh grade is a bridge year… not quite the beginning, not quite the end. It’s where confidence starts to bloom, questions get deeper, and kids begin to see themselves as thinkers. This curriculum is designed to honor that growth while keeping learning joyful, challenging, and personal.

Math: The Art of Problem Solving: Introduction to Algebra Set
This is the year we dive into algebra with AOPS. It’s not just about solving for x — it’s about learning how to think. The Introduction to Algebra set builds deep understanding through puzzles, logic, and layered problem-solving. It’s rigorous, yes, but also incredibly rewarding.

Language Arts: IEW Following Narnia Volume 2: Aslan’s Country
IEW continues to be our anchor for writing instruction, and Volume 2 of the Narnia series brings more advanced stylistic techniques and deeper literary analysis. It’s a beautiful way to stretch writing skills while staying immersed in a rich, imaginative world.
and
Spelling:IEW Spelling Zoo
Spelling Zoo offers a quirky, auditory-based approach to spelling that’s perfect for middle schoolers who still benefit from multisensory learning. It’s low-pressure, consistent, and surprisingly fun.

Reading: Student‑Chosen Books + Reading Journal
Reading remains student-led this year. We offer a wide buffet of high-quality literature and let them choose what speaks to them. The reading journal is a simple tool for reflection — jotting down thoughts, favorite quotes, or questions. It keeps reading personal and meaningful.

Science: Biology/ Easy Peasy
This year’s science focus is biology — the study of life in all its forms. Whether you use Easy Peasy’s structured approach or supplement with hands-on labs, nature walks, and documentaries, the goal is to spark curiosity and help students see the living world with new eyes.

History: Choose Your Path
Two excellent options depending on your family’s rhythm and previous studies. Pick the one that aligns best with your worldview and long-term history plan:
Story of the World Book 3 – A classical option that continues the global journey with rich narration and historical depth.
The World’s Story 2 – A Christian-based narrative history that covers the Middle Ages through the Renaissance with engaging storytelling and activities.

Bible: The New Testament: Thinking Tree Bible for Teen Girls or Boys
This beautifully designed workbook invites students to explore the New Testament through journaling, art, and reflection. It’s age-appropriate, thoughtful, and encourages personal engagement with Scripture.
Seventh grade is a chance to lean into independence while still offering guidance. This curriculum supports academic growth, spiritual depth, and personal expression — all while keeping learning grounded in joy and purpose.

Sexual Education:
SexEd Reclaimed
The 11–13 year old curriculum from Sex Ed Reclaimed is a faith-based, shame free, age-appropriate program that equips tweens and early teens to understand sexuality, boundaries, and identity through a biblical lens. It includes 39 video lessons, guided discussions, and a printable workbook designed to foster respectful, open conversations at home.
OR
TeenAid
TeenAid is a secular, abstinence‑centered health education program designed to help preteens and teens understand their bodies, relationships, and sexual decision‑making in a factual, non‑religious way. The curriculum promotes abstinence as the safest and healthiest choice for adolescents, using a “risk‑avoidance” approach rather than fear‑based messaging. Lessons cover anatomy, puberty, reproduction, STIs, emotional consequences of early sexual activity, and the importance of boundaries and self‑respect. The tone is straightforward and educational, focusing on facts, personal responsibility, and long‑term well‑being. While it encourages waiting until marriage, it does so without religious language, making it a good fit for families who want a secular but values‑driven alternative to comprehensive sex‑ed programs. TeenAid is often used in schools, community programs, and homeschools seeking a clear, abstinence‑focused curriculum grounded in health science rather than theology.

Social Emotional Learning:
MindUP introduces mindfulness, brain science, and emotional regulation in a kid-friendly way. It’s a gentle tool for building self-awareness, empathy, and resilience all essential for fourth grade and beyond. It’s about $20 and you can use it for more than one year and for as many students as you like.

Self-Interests
Seventh graders continue developing personal interests, discovering new talents, and becoming more aware of the world around them. They need social interactions and independence.
